How we saved a Wembley restaurant £5,400 a year
Client W owns a casual-dining restaurant a short walk from Wembley Stadium, with takings that swing hard around event days. Their previous bookkeeper recorded card and cash takings inconsistently, never reconciled the delivery-app payouts, and the VAT returns were filed on estimates. The accounts looked messier than the business actually was, and HMRC had opened a routine VAT query.
Outcome: We reconstructed the takings properly from the till Z-reads and the Deliveroo and Uber Eats statements, fixed the VAT method, and put a simple daily-takings routine in place. The VAT query was closed with no assessment, and clean records plus a proper salary and dividend plan saved around £5,400 a year.
