How we claimed £13,400 in capital allowances for a Carlisle logistics firm
Client K runs a distribution and logistics business from a Carlisle unit on the M6 corridor, with a fleet of vehicles, racking and warehouse equipment serving the cross-border and north-of-England trade. The Ltd company had invested heavily in the fleet and fit-out, but the previous bookkeeper had simply expensed routine costs and hadn't identified the substantial capital allowances available.
We reviewed the capital expenditure. The commercial vehicles, racking, forklifts and IT qualified for capital allowances, with the Annual Investment Allowance and, for qualifying new plant, full expensing for companies. We claimed the allowances across the open periods, significantly reducing Corporation Tax, and reviewed the fleet running costs and driver payroll for further efficiency.
