How we claimed £13,600 in capital allowances for a Maylands logistics business
Client K runs a logistics and distribution business from a unit on the Maylands Business Park in Hemel Hempstead, with a fleet of vans, racking and warehouse equipment. The Ltd company had invested heavily in the fit-out and fleet, but the previous bookkeeper had simply expensed routine costs and hadn't identified the substantial capital allowances available on the plant and vehicles.
We reviewed the capital expenditure. The racking, forklifts, commercial vehicles, refrigeration and IT qualified for capital allowances, with the Annual Investment Allowance and, for qualifying new plant, full expensing for companies. We claimed the allowances across the open periods, significantly reducing Corporation Tax, and reviewed the director remuneration and driver payroll for further efficiency.
