How we claimed £14,800 in R&D tax credits for a Middlesbrough digital firm
Client R co-founded a digital and software company in Middlesbrough's Boho digital cluster, set up as a Ltd company developing original software products. They were loss-making while building the product and had no idea they could claim R&D tax credits on the substantial technical development work.
We assessed the development against the R&D definition, the company was resolving genuine technical uncertainty in its software, which qualified. We identified the qualifying costs (developer salaries, software, a proportion of overheads), wrote the technical narrative, and submitted the claim under the merged R&D scheme with the enhanced support for R&D-intensive SMEs.
