How we saved a Kennington consultant £9,400 a year through proper structure
Client R is a management and policy consultant living in Kennington, working through a Ltd company on contracts with public-sector and corporate clients. The company had been set up without much advice, salary set sub-optimally, no dividend planning, no pension contributions, and no documented IR35 assessment, which is particularly important given public-sector clients fall under the off-payroll rules.
We reviewed everything. We assessed and documented the IR35 status of each contract (public-sector clients assess status, so we ensured the determinations were correct and challenged any blanket inside-IR35 determinations that didn't fit the working practices), restructured the remuneration to salary plus dividends where outside IR35, and set up employer pension contributions as an efficient extraction.
